GO and NO GO rings are made from blanks of the same dimensions. - An annular groove in the periphery of the NO GO ring distinguishes it from the GO ring.
- Gagemakers tolerance will be applied minus on the GO and plus on the NO GO.
- All rings, regardless of size, are lapped to size and polished.
- Non-gage areas are black oxided and ring faces are surface ground.
- Roundness and taper of all gages will not exceed 50% of the applicable gage makers size tolerance and are non-accumulative.

They are made from an oil hardening tool steel in full conformance to ASME/ANSI B1.2 & B1.16M. Thread work plugs are taperlock design up to 1 1/2" (38.1mm). Sizes larger than 1 1/2" are trilock design. Chip grooves are provided on all GO work Plug members in sizes #10 and larger. Chip grooves, also called dirt grooves, are located at the entering end of the gage.
